Scripture
“‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.’” (Luke 15:31 NIV)
The older brother served faithfully for years. He stayed when the younger son left. And he almost missed the celebration his own father was throwing. The father came out to him anyway, with tenderness, with invitation.
Long faithfulness is a gift. If you ever feel resistance toward something new God is doing, the Father is not angry with you. He is at the door, calling you in. The celebration is for you too.
Prayer
Father, we have served You a long time. When You start a celebration we did not plan, draw us in. Make us glad about every lost one coming home, however they get there. Amen.
