“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” (Genesis 1:2 NIV)
Three words describe the very first canvas: formless, empty, dark. Most leaders would call that a crisis. Scripture calls it the prologue. The Spirit was already hovering. God was already at work. Empty was not the end. Empty was the runway.
The empty pews, empty roles, and empty spaces in your church are not signs that God has stopped. They are spaces He intends to fill in ways you have not yet seen. He is still creating.
Prayer
Creator God, hover over the empty places in our church and in us. Speak light into the spaces we mistook for loss. Show us what You are starting. Amen.
