Scripture

“No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.” (Luke 5:36 NIV)

Jesus warned His followers about surface fixes that hurt the very thing they were meant to repair. Some problems in the church do not need a quick patch. They need the deeper repair only God can lead.

If something keeps tearing in the same place, you are not failing. You are being invited to ask a different question. God is patient enough to lead the deeper work.

Prayer

Lord, save us from clever surface fixes that hide deeper needs. Give us courage to ask the real question and patience to do the real repair. Amen.
