Any biblically accurate teaching on spiritual gifts must pass through 1 Corinthians 13.

Powerful gifts without love distort the witness of the local church. Tongues, prophecy, knowledge, and even sacrificial service mean nothing without Christlike love.

Love safeguards unity. Love restrains pride. Love prioritizes others.

For leadership development, this is crucial. Gifted individuals must be formed spiritually, not merely activated functionally.

The local church must cultivate humility, teachability, and accountability alongside gifting.

When gifts operate under the governance of love, the body grows “up in every way to Christ, who is the head” (Ephesians 4:15 GNT).

Mission credibility depends on this.
