Spiritual gifts are often discussed primarily in terms of internal ministry: teaching Sunday school, serving on committees, assisting in worship.

But the New Testament connects gifting to the outward advance of the Gospel.

Evangelists proclaim Christ to new audiences. Apostolic leaders plant churches. Prophetic voices call communities to repentance and justice. Mercy gifts engage the poor. Hospitality opens homes for discipleship.

The Spirit equips the local church not only to gather but also to go.

When gifts are leveraged primarily for maintenance, the church becomes focused inward. When gifts are oriented toward mission, the church becomes expansive.

Teaching believers to understand their gifts must therefore include missional imagination.

How does your gift serve your neighborhood?

How does your gift strengthen the witness of the Gospel in your city?

How does your gift multiply disciples?

Spiritual gifts are not survival tools. They are mission catalysts.

Dr. Tracee J. Swank guides Kingdom-minded leaders, churches, and entrepreneurs to clarify their purpose, reimagine mission, and multiply hope—so they can lead entrepreneurial movements that transform communities and advance the Great Commission.
