Scripture
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” (Acts 2:4 NIV)
Pentecost was a launch event, not a maintenance event. The Spirit did not fall to keep the disciples in the upper room. He fell to push them into the streets. He still does.
If you have been waiting on the Spirit to settle the church, you may be waiting for the wrong outcome. The same Spirit who came in fire still pushes the gathered church back out into the streets, neighborhoods, and conversations He has gone ahead of us into.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, You did not fall on the upper room to keep us in it. Fill our church again. Push us into the places You have already gone ahead. Amen.
